Quick Weight-Loss Tips that Work!

Wahoo! I only gained 400 grams over the high-calorie High Holiday season. To celebrate my self-control (though I still want to taste the kugels I pushed away), I'll introduce you to some time-honored truisms of weight loss and weight control.

Losing weight is rarely quick (unless you have the flu) but a slow, steady strategy to keep your calories in check pays off long-term benefits.

Here are some quick tips to peel off extra pounds:

Eat your carbs with fiber (fruits and vegetables help your body to lose the goo that otherwise fills up your fat cells).

Add quinoa to your meals. Red quinoa is delicious. So is white! The high-protein treat minimizes hunger pains and nourishes you well.

Drink at minimum one cup of water about 15 minutes before meals, and 2-3 liters of water per day.

Add 2 tablespoons of flaxseed to your hot or cold cereals and plain yogurts once daily. That'll take more goo out of your system and leave you healthier than before.

Drink green tea (it can lower your cholesterol, too).

Skip the fried foods, including bourekas, chips, falafels (sorrrrrrryyyyy) and salty buttered popcorn (eat plain popcorn instead).

Add more vegetables and fruits to your menu, and forget the hi-cal salad dressings, mayonnaise and more. Simple lemon juice, garlic, vinegar and olive oil make yummy salad toppings.

Food is for enhancing life, not ruining it!

Definitely dump the colas and white bread. Here’s why.
