EMPOWER Yourself Scoops MSM a Gazillion & 9 Times!

B'SD

23 Tevet 5771

I have a running joke on Facebook about how many times the information found in
"scooped" Mainstream Media (MSM) since its publication. I've estimated a "Gazillion" or so incidents of headlines echoing the content of my previously published work.

Today I noted that online article
Antioxidants Lower Risk of Stroke presents the Gazillion 9th time, so to speak, that my E-book, blog and coaching suggestions beat Mainstream Media to the deadline.

When Your Pregnancy Does not Complete... or Even Begin...

B'SD

19 Tevet 5771

There's little in life to equal the pain of losing a pregnancy. Bereaved women are more pained when the people around them fail to understand the depth of that loss. It is a loss of hope, of happiness, of joy, even of femininity for some women.

A friend of mine, grief counselor Miriam Maslin, tells the world these wise words:

Grief is not an illness;
it is the healthy response to loss.
Under normal circumstances,
religious tradition provides us
with a structure
within which to do
our healing work.

Not so with miscarriages, stillbirths,
the agony of infertility, and
difficult birth outcomes.

Here there are no therapeutic mourning periods.

Sometimes our friends and family are
at a loss themselves and they can't
be there for us.

There is often a huge chasm between
husband and wife because men and women
tend to mourn differently.

Losing a baby can be a very lonely journey.
Sometimes, we need a safe place
to process our loss.

Sometimes we need someone with whom
we can just be.

Naughty or Nice? These Doctors Need Shrinks!

B'SD

16 Tevet 5771

I just read this medical update and paused to reflect on the issue:

Lab Notes:
Impulse May Be Hard-Wired
A murine model may hold the key to
unlocking the relationship between
stress and PTSD,
while that checkout "impulse buy"
may be explained by genes
rather than marketing,
according to reports in this week's
Lab Notes:
Impulse Shopper?
We've Got a Gene... full story

Some clarification about impulsive and other human behaviors could have accompanied the article. Impulsive, as other behaviors, can be controlled by willpower. Clergy and mental health professionals have taught that reality for millenia. Parents are supposed to teach it to their children. Think of the concepts called "Deferred Gratification," "moral choices," and "self restraint."

They are realistic behaviors.

I can just imagine Hollywoodites
and wannabes, though,
trying to avoid personal responsibility
for their choices and actions with
this poorly presented medical
"information."

Good gosh, we need not keep our minds focused on personal failure. You can choose to be nice, not naughty.

Need a moral boost? You'll find several - plus some good jokes and stories - in

Wheelchair Etiquette 101

B'SD

15 Tevet 5771

Sorry for late-in-the-day blogposts that seem to be few and far between. GOOGLE and/or my PC seem to be having some problems, making my efforts to update this blog tedious and time-consuming. My PC technician and I are seeking solutions to the problem. Meanwhile, here's the skinny on Wheelchair Etiquette 101:

People who use wheelchairs don't do that for your convenience. Think of it this way: the wheelchair is similar to an arm, leg or any other necessary body part for the person sitting in one.

Please know that a wheelchair is literally the extension of a person's body. It's not a toy nor your handy-dandy catch-all. You don't smear fingerprints on someone's glasses, do you? Try out their hearing aids? Of course not. That's crossing personal boundaries. When you fail to heed the personal boundaires that wheelchairs represent, you're sort of like that bull up above, making people uncomfortable.

Please visit the

to get perspective from a wheelchair user. You'll know how to be better behaved from now on. Pretty empowering, huh?

Quick Comfort Tip to Lighten Your Mood

B'SD

14 Tevet 5771

I've done a lot of coaching this past week. So many ill people and their loved ones need immediate comforting.

Holidays are hard for many reasons. Less sunlight can = SAD syndrome, making hard times harder. Budget-busting expenses don't lighten the mood.

Here's a Quick Comfort Tip that just might ease your mood:

Pour fresh olive oil in a bowl.

Add a dash of balsamic vinegar.

Soak that up with some whole grain sliced bread and dine slowly.

Pita works!

It's surprisingly delicious

Fill up the rest of your appetite & tummy with fruits, sliced veggies and pure water.

Rest, reflect, recharge your mind and body as the meal digests.

You'll be well nourished without the fuss of cooking & no sinkful of dishes to wash. Ahhh...

Snore No More!

B'SD

12 Tevet 5771

Sleeping is supposed to restore your strength and clarity of thought. But snoring messes them up A LOT.

Here's a quick article link to
Stop Snoring Now and another to an article I like to call Improve Your Memory with Better Sleep.

It's supposed to be common knowledge that a few behaviors promote better, deeper sleep:

Regular Sleep Habits that include
relaxing rituals before sleep time
and same bed-time each night.

Discussing Your Troubles and
possible solutions to them
with someone you trust
before bedtime (keeping
bedtime journals can be
helpful, too)

Letting Go of Stressful Thoughts
Before Bedtime (this includes
apologizing to people you care
about before going to sleep,
praying for insight and guidance
to deal with the issues in your life).

There are alternative healing products that promote sleep, but I hestitate to mention them. You'll be far better off with genuinely natural sleep preceded by good sleep-promoting habits.

Hoping you'll enjoy snoreless, deeper Zzzzzzz...

Holiday/travel season is a major stressor. So are terrorism fears. Take sensible precautions, pray often and reduce your to-do list. Lower your stress levels as best you can, focusing on the sweetness in your life.

Here's an item to lower your trips to the mall and your gift budget. Buy someone a stress-reducing, cost-cutting E-book entitled EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge. Click on the flipping pages below for a sample of the text:

Patient Safety from a Doctor's Point of View.

Doctors have hearts, though you may wonder about some of them. Check out this blogpost by compassionate Dr. Kevin Pho. And be sure to click on the highlighted word "Incidentaloma" as you read his essay:

The medical malpractice system
does little to promote patient safety.
Because of its adversarial nature,
openness is not condoned, and physicians

How Would YOU Solve an Identity Problem for Patients Who Can't Speak?

B'SD

6 Tevet 5771

A very sad issue has affected many people in Philadelphia:
After Months of Searching, Family Finds Woman in Philly Hospital.

The lack of personal effects that identify a person too ill to speak for themselves is a problem that can be avoided. Medical ID bracelets and necklaces are reasonable solutions. They can be worn 24/7, even in the bath or shower.

I wonder, though, if you have other good ideas for preventing the impossibility of identifying someone in a similar medical crisis.

Embedded computer chips, something along the lines of what pet dogs receive in their ears do not appeal to many people afraid of them for some reason or another. Tattoos are not a solution for people who avoid them for health, esthetic or religious reasons.

What solutions can you think of? Let me know and please share your name when you post comments below.

How to Age with Dignity

B'SD

3 Tevet 5771

A Facebook friend's message this morning shook me to the core: "heading towards the big 37 and counting as many wrinkles. does vanity increase with age?!!"

My Giveret Golani Self-Help Coaching services and the EMPOWER Yourself E-book teach the increasing value of your worth over time. You learn from experiences, you are able to be more compassionate because of your insights, you become more capable at dealing with stress due to past practice and your ever-increasing ability to sort trivia from serious issues.

Look yourself in a mirror.

The lines around your eyes, mouth and on your forehead are marks of pride. They are the story of your efforts, sacrifices, kindnesses, of smiling through hard times and maintaining or recovering your dignity during hardship. Facial lines reflect your "Transcendence Over My Limitations" better self.

How to Boost Your Sense of Humor During the Holidays - Even if You're Ill

B'SD

30 Kislev 5771

It's almost the last day of Chanuka/Hanuka and gosh, moods are mixed are around the world. Holidays are hard times for feeling cheerful. Families and friends bicker and hurt feelings almost everywhere you look and listen. Political news scares the *&^% out of you. As for money? Who has any to lose?

Illness brings fear, self-condemnation and much sadness into affected lives. That's why so many medical and mental health professionals either asked me to write It's MY Crisis! And I'll Cry If I Need To: EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge or endorsed it.

Packed with humor, healing messages and GREAT coping tips, this E-book can help you to get your grin back even if you need to make serious adjustments in how you live life.

Need proof? Here are some comments from beloved American author Mark Twain, found among the other takes on life throughout the book:

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great ones make you feel that you too, can become great." – Mark Twain

"Habit is habit, and not to be flung out the window but coaxed downstairs one step at a time." – Mark Twain

There's more good stuff in this easy read material. Boost your happiness with tips on intimacy in marriage for people who are ill.

Here's one more peek at my text before you buy it: All of us have challenges to overcome. Georgia O'Keefe said it well:

"Where I was born and where and how I have lived is unimportant. It is what I have done with where I have been that should be of interest."

Here's How to Help Israel to Recover from the Haifa Fire

B'SD

29 Kislev 5771

Americans outside Israel can donate here https://www.afmda.org/afmdapublic/index.aspx?Type=1

Israelis and all nationalities can donate here (click on your country's flag)
http://www.mdais.com/Donations/

See also
http://thenewjew.wordpress.com/2010/12/03/israel-needs-your-help-forest-fire-devastates-haifa/

How BIG is the devastating story?
Myanmar News covered it!
To put this in perspective:
Israel is about the size of Delaware,
smaller than New Jersey.

Imagine losing that much LIFE
& acreage in those places, and you can
realize the devastation
upon Israeli society & forestry.

Here in the Middle East, its hard to grow greenery. Israeli law FORBIDS picking flowers in public spaces. Flower-picking may be done ONLY in private gardens. And, as always, we don't consider life to be optional. Lost lives & bereaved families across the religious spectrum (Druse, Christian, Jewish) are heartaches I can't describe.

Eretz HaKodesh - the Holy Land - is being kissed by HaShem/GOD and blessed with rain today. Some of us have literally danced in the streets over this.

Thanks for helping.

Light Up Your Life with Chanuka and Feel Better Soon!

B'SD

25 Kislev 5771

Here's a convenient break from feeling sick and over-focusing on it to your detriment. May spiritual light illuminate your life. And puh-leez use sensible saftey practices all Chanuka-long (GUARD THE KIDS!). Israel's fire station directors warn that this is a major house-fire season.

I made Potato Pirogen (Gnocci) Soup to celebrate the 1st night of Chanuka: Quinoa (red and white), brown rice, homegrown beet leaves, ground pepper, sea salt, oregano, sweet potato, tomato paste, chopped onions and filtered water, then shared it with friends. YUM! Diners licked the pot clean, so to speak. My organic home gardening and culinary efforts led to a BIG success at the Chanuka feast we shared. Ahh, I like cooking when I'm not doing my usual raw foods diet. Always have enjoyed kitchen creativity...

your Chanuka illumination.
