SOAR with the Eagles!

B'SD

12 Cheshvan 5770

I received a charming story on E-mail and decided to share it with you. It's delicious food for thought for nourishing you this weekend. And beyond ;^ )

Ducks Quack, Eagles Soar!!!

No one can make you serve customers well. That's because great service is a choice.

Harvey Mackay tells a wonderful story about a cab driver who proved this point. He was waiting in line for a ride at the airport. When a cab pulled up, the first thing Harvey noticed was that the taxi was polished to a bright shine. Smartly dressed in a white shirt, black tie, and freshly pressed black slacks, the cab driver jumped out and rounded the car to open the back passenger door for Harvey. He handed my friend a laminated card and said: "I'm Wally, your driver. While I'm loading your bags in the trunk I'd like you to read my mission statement.'

Taken aback, Harvey read Wally's Mission Statement:

"To get my customers to their destination in
the quickest, safest & cheapest way possible
in a friendly environment."

This blew Harvey away. Especially when he noticed that the inside of the cab matched the outside. Spotlessly clean!

As he slid behind the wheel, Wally asked, "Would you like a cup of coffee? I have a thermos of regular and one of decaf."

Harvey said jokingly, "No, I'd prefer a soft drink."

Wally smiled and replied, "No problem. I have a cooler up front with regular and Diet Coke, water and orange juice."

Almost stuttering, Harvey said, "I'll take a Diet Coke."

Handing him his drink, Wally remarked, "If you’d like something to read, I have The Wall Street Journal, Time, Sports Illustrated and USA Today."

As they were pulling away, Wally handed his passenger another laminated card, reading, "These are the stations I get and the music they play, if you'd like to listen to the radio."

And as if that weren't enough, Wally told Harvey that he had the air conditioning on and asked if the temperature was comfortable for him. Then he advised Harvey of the best route to his destination for that time of day. He also let him know that he'd be happy to chat and tell him about some of the sights or, if Harvey preferred, to leave him with his own thoughts.

"Tell me, Wally," an amazed Harvey asked the driver, "Have you always served customers like this?"

Wally smiled into the rearview mirror. "No, not always. In fact, it's only been in the last two years. My first five years driving, I spent most of my time complaining like all the rest of the cabbies do. Then I heard the personal growth teacher, Wayne Dyer, on the radio one day. He had just written a book called You’ll See It When You Believe It. Dyer said that if you get up in the morning expecting to have a bad day, you’ll rarely disappoint yourself. He said, 'Stop complaining! Differentiate yourself from your competition. Don't be a duck. Be an eagle. Ducks quack and complain. Eagles soar above the crowd.' That hit me right between the eyes," said Wally. "Dyer was really talking about me. I was always quacking and complaining, so I decided to change my attitude and become an eagle. I looked around at the other cabs and their drivers. The cabs were dirty, the drivers were unfriendly, and the customers were unhappy. So I decided to make some changes. I put in a few at a time. When my customers responded favorably, well, I did more."

"I take it that the effort has paid off for you," Harvey responded.

"It sure has," Wally replied. "My first year as an eagle, I doubled my income from the previous year. This year I’ll probably quadruple it. You were lucky to get me today. I don't sit at cabstands anymore. My customers call me for appointments on my cell phone or leave a message on my answering machine. If I can't pick them up myself, I get a reliable cabbie friend to do it and I take a piece of the action."

Wally was phenomenal, running a limo service out of a Yellow Cab.

I've probably told that story to more than fifty cab drivers over the years, and only two took the idea and ran with it. Whenever I go to their cities, I give them a call. The rest of the drivers quacked like ducks and told me all the reasons they couldn’t do any of what I was suggesting. Wally the Cab Driver had made a different choice. He decided to stop quacking like ducks and start soaring like eagles.

I personally and truly love such customer service. Give it a thought, how true it is. How many times we just start our day by complaining "Oh No! It’s a Monday," and then feel miserable the entire day. How many times, have we woken in the morning, felt the excitement within and exclaimed "THIS is going to be the BEST day of my life!"? Now even if after saying that you seem to not have a good day then you can turn around to say and to feel "This too shall pass." At the end of the day, go to bed content that you know and feel right from the bottom of your heart that you have done the best you could. At the end of it, you will be the one who would have changed your own life forever.

Okay readers, the above story makes a point worth considering: "COPING with adversity beats the alternative." YOU can become your own client, and serve your needs in a superb manner, offsetting sadness and downward psychological slides.

Soar with emotionally strong eagles.

Need a friendly voice to help you to stay on course so you can cope better with the illness that you or a loved one is facing? I know of a book that makes those points quite well. It even suggests terrific coping strategies and worldwide resources for getting what you need. Click on

Do You Know Which Household Items Hurt Your Bone Health?

B'SD

8 Cheshvan 5770

Lots of suggestions about improving your health fill the pages of

The text is based on my documented medical experience at vastly improving my health, even regaining vision, by ridding my diet and home of synthetic substances. Some DOCTORS are recommending my book and/or using it in their practices.

Here's some scientific support for why the book advocates ridding your homes of plastic kitchenware, among other things:

If you find it hard to accept that synthetic shower curtains, in addition to children's toys, personal care items, vinyl flooring and other common items can harm your health, see The Shower Report.

Want to know about stuff that can more safely replace all those familiar things? I recommend a particular book ;^ )

The Doctor Will Scare You Now...

B'SD

7 Cheshvan 5770

Apparently Halloween season isn't scary enough with all those annual news reports of poisoned candies, dangerous costumes and goblins running around. Some of you are feeling your blood run cold because you've been informed of frightening diagnoses. Imaginations are off and running with worst-case scenarios, larger-than-life medical bills and the beep-beep-brrruppp noises of medical machines.

Turn off your television, stop staring into space and step into some sunshine.

Breathe deeply. Let the warmth caress your skin as fresh air fills your lungs.

Okay, let's look at the situation with a refreshed mind and stronger heart.

You need to:

Organize your paperwork,
that blizzard of insurance & medical papers
coming at you.

Figure out how to cope with the hectic
medical appointments schedule
plus the effects of treatment.

Budget for BIG expenses.

Arrange for someone to help you to
travel to appointments
then home again,
get to the toilet,
& prepare meals
as you recover from
pain, fear &
unpredictable complications
while preserving
pleasant relationships
with people around you.

Find solutions to getting the care
you need without further strains
on your limited strength
or decreasing patience.

Now consider how you'd answer this: "How many medical problems can you solve for $8.95?"

You've asked your medical professionals how you're going to cope with all that stuff listed above. They don't necessarily know the answers.

Doctors specialize at medical care. They owe you information about your medical situation, respect and acceptance. They're not computers or librarians though you wish they were.

Reexamine your demands. Make smart medical and financial choices. Need coping info?

Hearing the Right Sounds Can Make You HAPPY!

B'SD

4 Cheshvan 5770

If you or someone you know is on anti-depressants and STILL not happy, there's a legitimate reason for that.

Here are some proven methods for overcoming the blues:

Empathy is still appropriate. Don't dismiss someone else's sadness, fear or concerns because their ideas don't bother you. If they're upset, that is the reality to accept. Condescending comments never make unhappy people smile. Becoming happy is a process, not a command to be obeyed.

Oh - hearing the phrase "Thank You" is only one of many sounds that can lift your mood and everyone else's. Here's a bit of amusing insight about how sound can affect your mood. Fill your life with birdsong, uplifting words and music.

If you or someone you know is facing illness and feeling miserable over that, find out why medical and mental health experts recommend that you read It's MY Crisis! And I'll Cry If I Need To: EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge. It's filled with happiness-creating ideas!

Get your running shoes on, or listen to some music. Snap your fingers, tap your feet, and let your heart soar like a bird. If you're bed-bound or have difficulty moving about, ask for help. Your assistant will probably appreciate the change of pace as much as you.

When Tough Times Hit, There Is Always HOPE!

B'SD

Today this blog and I are participating in an "Overcomers Virtual Tour" coordinated by Nikki Leigh.

I'd like to bring your attention to an author whose comments below echo many of the lessons in
EMPOWER Yourself to Cope with a Medical Challenge. One important lesson is clinging to hope, cultivating hope and allowing yourself to be comforted - perhaps healed - by the unknown and unexpected:

When Tough Times Hit, There Is Always HOPE! Mary Hays-Bridges

I was facing something more difficult than trying to survive the devastation from a negligent act. I had truly lost my sense of identity, purpose, and life goals. I could survive being a helpless invalid, but to be hopeless would be downright tragic.

My job in life now is to help others set new dreams and learn about survival – through Him. May my story impress upon you that HOPE can bring you through life's trials! Dreams DO come true! All things ARE possible! As a coach, “HOPE” now has added meaning for me - “Helping Others' Possibilities Endure.”

1. Before going to sleep, answer: “Today has been a good day because ____________________________.” Focus on the people you love, the things that inspire you, the daily details that are within your power to change. Happiness is found in these small details of life.

2. Keep a goals/gratitude journal. Today, what action step did you take towards your goal? Focusing on goals gives a renewed sense of purpose, adds confidence, cultivates self-esteem, and adds structure to life. Writing down your action steps and daily progress is a positive reinforcement. Counting your blessings adds a measure of humility, compassion and keeps optimism alive.

3. Read and/or listen to motivational and inspirational books.

4. Use pictures and sayings to make a focus board collage for each goal. Seeing these positive affirmations daily enhances your endurance and strength.

Become your own cheerleader through positive self-talk.

Happiness + Optimism + Perseverance + Endurance = HOPE
When tough times hit, never give up HOPE!

"Why me?" and "Why can't I be like everybody else?" might be questions haunting your heart and mind.

Prevent Pancreatic and other Cancers with a Plate.

B'SD

25 Tishrei 5770

The other day I referred to evidence that some foods are not good for long lifespans. They can make you miserable with pain, disease, and sadness you didn't ask for. One of the diseases linked with diet is cancer.

News junkies recently heard and read a lot about famous folks dying of cancer.

But Michael Landon, Patrick Swayze and William Safire aren't the only people who've died of Pancreatic and other forms of Cancer. Everyday people die of it, too.

Disturbing proof points to pancreatic and other cancers that are being caused by ethnic

and dietary trends. We mortals hold potential solutions for preventing disease in our minds, hands and mouths.

Did you know that
Pancreatic Cancer Deaths are Higher for Blacks?

Have you read
the evidence about foods likely to cause cancer in anyone who eats them? Especially people who are prone to developing cancer?

Meats, sweets, &
foods which cause sugar to be formed can be kept off your plate. Bread, pasta, cookies, rice, white potatoes, etc. are in that category.

You don't have to go hungry or feel deprived without your favorite foods.
Spend time protecting your health by gradually increasing the fruits, vegetables and whole grains (e.g., oat, quinoa) on your menu. Sprout breads are yummy, filling and body-building. Increase them until they dominate your plate and ultimately replace the stuff that tastes good but isn't good for you.

This bowl of quinoa packs a powerful protein punch.

It's filled with other good nutrients, too. Pour some organic maple syrup on top and savor the flavor.

Save your life with a spoon, knife and fork, and excellent menu planning. Prevent Pancreatic and other forms of Cancer with your plate. Fill it with nourishing foods only. Pack nourishing snacks to take along during hectic days.

You don't want to die from donuts, do you?

Need motivation to change your menus and stick to the plan? Medical and mental health professionals recommend that you

How can a Glass of Pure Water Protect YOUR Health and Fertility?

B'SD

21 Tishrei 5770

Let's continue a line of thought from yesterday's blogpost and my Self-Help Coaching skills. Cancer and infertility are messing up many lives around the globe. Stricken people are dumbfounded that they could suffer such problems. "After all," they reason, "I took care of myself. Ate well, drank lots of water, just like those natural health counselors advise. Local and national governments have standards for preventing disease in the food and water sytems. I know that what I ate and drank was clean, bug- and germ-free.
I even switched from BPA-filled plastic water bottles to aluminum stuff. How could this happen to me???"

The answer is as startling as can be: The government-supervised foods and water you ingested might have been loaded with health-endangering chemicals. Yes, they prevented mold, bug infestations and sewage from seeping into your food and water supply. But how that was arranged seems to be the problem causing rising cancer and infertility rates.

How do I know?

Read this educational news item: Dangerous BPA Leaks from Alumium Bottles.

Then read:
EPA Re-evaluating Hormone-disrupting Pesticide Atrazine in Water Supplies.

URGENT UPDATE: Scientists at Tufts Studying BPA as a Possible Cause of Breast Cancer

Somebody poisoned the well.
And the water bottle.

Replace your chemically-laden plastic kitchenware over time as a protective measure. Use health-promoting wood, cast iron, glass, ceramic and porcelain items instead. Glass bottles or genuine glass drinking cups won't fill you with BPA and who-knows-what that might be disclosed in the future. Ceramic mugs are good, too - if they're lead-free. Fill your kitchen cupboards with cutlery and cookware made of natural elements.

And get a water filter!

Need water when you're on the go? Clean out empty glass wine and grape juice bottles and use them in a shoulder-strap water carrier as I do.

Want to improve more of your dietary habits, to increase the chances of better health and/or fertility? Consider reducing the
fried and barbecued foods on your menu. They're known to cause problems, too (that's OLD News! ).

There's still a world of scrumptious, body-building menus to enjoy. They can protect and improve your health.

Read this book to know how changing my diet gave doctors pause when they realized I went from suddenly blind to sighted (in full color!) within months of changing my dining habits. My bones, muscles and overall health now rival that of a woman HALF my age. Medical experts are studying my medical miracles and reading the book, too!

The text can soothe you as you learn how to cope with your diagnoses in clear-headed fashion. Jokes and funny remarks from famous people appear throughout the text. They'll make you laugh and smile when you least expect it. The Global Resources section in the back lets you know about how to get help to conceive despite complicated fertility problems, how to get discounts on expensive medication and medical appliances, and much more - no matter the diagnosis you have.

There's a reason that world-famous psychiatrist
Dr. Judith Guedalia calls EMPOWER Yourself
"Lifesaving, emotionally rewarding, funny & helpful."

Here's a bonus: the manuscript also tells you about foods that fight pain! You can feel MUCH better after reading this book ;^ )

A GREAT Way to Protect Yourself from Breast Cancer!

B'SD

20 Tishrei 5770

I've been traveling this week, enjoying the Sukkot holiday season with sights, sounds and tastes that enrich the soul (We bypassed the fragrant vineyards of Zichron Yakov as we headed to our destination, yesterday. We rode a boat over the Sea of Galilee, picnicked at Moshava Kineret, saw and tasted the lush, beautiful and delicious results of 18th-century immigrants who turned part of the Galilee coastline into an oasis of olive, date, fig, mango, papaya, coconut and flowering trees. The weather was hot, clear and gorgeous with fragrant air from milk farms and the Seven Species Native to Israel. The sun kissed our skin daylong. We rode horse-drawn carriages, and dipped our toes in tiny lakes dotting the countryside. Children nuzzled noses with goats and a few were allowed to take the reins of trained carriage horses).

Happiness is good for health. So are pure foods. Psychiatrists know that whole foods reality, too!

Several people recognized me or overheard me speaking about my book while I moved about. They asked me a question I often hear: "WHAT do you drink or eat most, as a vegetarian focused on healing?"

The answer is: "ANYTHING organic filled with Vitamin C! I chug orange juice to beat champions, add tomatoes to salads plus to rice with lentil dishes and whatever I can think of. I snack on pineapple daily."

Okay, now that you can answer a trivia question about one of your favorite bloggers, let's digress to an important point:

October is International
Breast Cancer Awareness month!

So far, the western medical world lacks a cure for cancer. One excellent tool for survival is EARLY DETECTION & TREATMENT.

THE BREAST CHEK KIT--a medically endorsed, patented product greatly enhances early detection of breast tissue changes. By performing a monthly breast self examination with this kit you can take charge of your own health with much more confidence.

Buy it today, no matter where you live!

It's newly available in Israel. Contact Florence at cell phone 0543.008.478 and let her know I sent you.

Here's a movie created by a retired psychotherapist celebrating his wife's victory over the disease. Click on
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOlm-As-emI

One more thing: the evidence is growing that sugary foods (pastas, rice, breads, cookies, etc.) feed cancer cells. It's not realistic for most people to immediately get all that out of their diets. I recommend that you gradually taper it out as you find delicious substitutes for favorite foods that might damage your health. Sprout breads, quinoa and baked goods or fresh whole foods can please the palate and your sense of satisfaction while nourishing your immune system. Invest in some whole foods cookbooks and enjoy food preparation lessons at local health food shops.

Er, I recommend that you limit your fish intake. The oceans seem troubled with too much mercury these days.
